2021 marks the 9th year of the T200, Trilogy Health Services’ annual, 200-mile wellness bicycle ride, and participants are ready to put the rubber to the road from May 25th through the 27th in an effort to promote employee health and wellbeing at 12 Trilogy Senior Living Communities across Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky. The initiative is part of Trilogy’s longstanding Wellness Week, a weeklong event where the provider works to inspire employees and residents to take an active role in their health. This year’s Wellness Week also coincides with National Senior Health & Fitness Day, creating the perfect opportunity for Trilogy to engage residents in fun fitness activities designed to move their bodies and lift their spirits.
The T200 first began in 2012 to celebrate the creation of Trilogy’s wellness program, TrilogyFIT, and each year, the riders have promoted new wellness programs designed to help Trilogy team members maintain a healthy weight, establish an exercise routine, quit smoking, reverse type-2 diabetes, and so much more. This year, as the COVID-19 pandemic loosens its grip on the senior living industry, the 30 riders are more eager than ever to visit with employees face-to-face, and to celebrate their powerful stories of resilience and success. Participants will also be educating employees about the COVID-19 vaccines as part of Trilogy’s Independence from COVID campaign. Employees will have an opportunity to get their vaccine questions answered and read up on common myths and misconceptions.
“Last year, our T200 was a virtual event, and while we made the most of the tools we had, we were missing the magic that comes from being together in person,” commented Leigh Ann Barney, President and CEO of Trilogy Health Services. “There are going to be so many inspiring stories to hear from our team members, and so many opportunities to educate them about our wellness benefits, which encompass their physical, emotional, spiritual and even financial wellness. We’re also placing a strong focus on the importance of getting vaccinated for COVID-19. We know that vaccines are how we’ll win our independence from this virus, and as healthcare workers, it’s our job to lead by example and protect our residents as well as one another.”
The T200 begins with a kick-off celebration on May 25 in Richmond, Indiana at The Springs of Richmond. Throughout the rest of the day, the riders will make stops in Greenville, Ohio (Village Green Health Campus) and Springfield, Ohio (Wooded Glen Health Campus and Forest Glen Health Campus). Day 2 begins in Pickerington, Ohio (Violet Springs Health Campus) and includes stops in New Albany, Ohio (Smith’s Mill Health Campus) and Zanesville, Ohio (The Oaks at Northpointe and The Oaks at Bethesda). On the last day of the journey, the riders hit several Trilogy Senior Living Communities in Louisville, Kentucky, including Forest Springs Health Campus, Westport Place Health Campus, Park Terrace Health Campus, and Franciscan Health Care Center.
At each stop, Trilogy will host a wellness fair for campus employees. The fair will feature booths to educate and inform employees on a range of topics, including diet and nutrition, understanding your health statistics (blood pressure, etc.) and available benefits and wellness programs. Employees at all of Trilogy’s senior living communities throughout the Midwest will also be taking their own steps to improve their wellness during Wellness Week, including attending health fairs, climbing stairs, establishing healthy eating habits, and participating in several wellness challenges including the TrilogyFIT Virtual T200, where employees can follow the same route as the riders. Residents will also be getting in on the fun by participating in the National Senior Health and Fitness Day step off and other Olympics-themed activities.
“At Trilogy, we say that ‘we care for you, as you care for others,’” continued Barney. “During the T200, we show how we’ve put those words into action. I wish the best of luck to all the riders this year, and I can’t wait to follow along on social media.”
